C, C++, Java, and C# are considered to be part of one programming language family. They share similar syntax, some similar features. Newer languages in this list evolved from the older ones. C has been around the longest; C# is newest in this list. C++ added object-oriented (class) programming features that are not there in C. Java added modern language features like garbage collection that is not there in C++. C# and Java share a lot of similarity in the feature set and both are actively undergoing changes.
